I began my glass artistry in 1977 when I enrolled in a stained glass class at Loch Haven ART Center in Orlando, Florida. The next four years were spent perfecting the craft and teaching classes at my stained glass studio, Golden Years Glass, in the Orlando area.
After reading an article in a stained glass journal, I became intrigued by the possibilities of fused glass, an art that had its beginnings in Egyptian times, around 2000 BC, and was virtually forgotten until recent years. Being never content with mastering stained glass, I learned the basics of fusing during a summer workshop at Bull's-Eye Fusing Ranch in Portland, Oregon in 1982. I experimented, enrolled in additional workshops, and became a teacher myself. Being a pioneer of this resurging glass art movement, I was one of the first artists to display my work in galleries, art shows, and other exhibits on the East Coast, such as the Corning Museum of Glass, New York, and also at the Smithsonian Institute, Washington, D.C.
My current passions are designing various Animal Stand-up Figures, Vases, Dichroic Bowls in various sizes, Vessels, Plates, Contemporary Wallpieces and Glass Casted Art Objects.
My work is more spiritual than political. I usually have themes for the work based on my feelings of spirituality, or reaching for light and beauty. I strive for beautiful craftsmanship while pushing the material to its limits in creating art to enhance our living and working environments.
